After initial consideration of the environmental significance of a proposal, scoping can act as an integral tool for effective development planning. Scoping takes into consideration the possibility of further significant environmental impacts and defines which issues need to be addressed by the EIA process. Impacts that are not considered likely to be significant will be scoped out of the EIA. Effective scoping studies have the potential to save complications financially and logistically further down the development process.

One of the key benefits of producing a Scoping Report is that it can be used as a tool to involve key stakeholders and keep them informed of the EIA process. By ensuring that all requirements of stakeholders such as Natural England and the Environment Agency can be addressed at an early stage, the client can minimize potential for objections to a scheme at a later date.

Our team of specialists has extensive experience of scoping studies. We have worked closely on a number of developments, offering unrivalled expertise and advice, including the on-going £billion Cross London Rail Link development.
